At BreakAway Rides, we go beyond simply riding trails in the mountains. Through our weekly after-school rides and holiday workshops, your child will build self-confidence, recharge in the calming embrace of nature after a busy school day, sharpen their problem-solving skills, and form friendships that often last a lifetime. Along the way, they’ll naturally develop stamina, strength, fitness, and coordination while tackling the challenges of mountain trails.

We offer Weekly Skills Rides, School Holiday Clubs and Birthday Party Mountain Bike Rides are all semi-structured, with a flexible program designed to balance skill-building with free exploration. Guided by passionate teachers, kids can experience the thrill of adventure while feeling supported and empowered.

Our goal is simple: to create an environment where your child is not only learning but thriving.

School Cycling

We work with a number of pre-primary, primary and high schools in and around Cape Town – including Herzlia, Huppeland, Jan van Riebeek, SACS, Springfield Convent and Bischops.

School Cycling

Our Pre-primary and Primary School program has a strong focus on play, fun, creativity, exploration, and skills. Kids improve their bike handling and fitness through play full skills drills and games, followed by immersion into the nature where rock features, roots, sand, little drop offs and jumps are used to improve bike handling. As kids move into High School and improve strength and fitness, we ride further into the mountains, build leg strength, speed and incorporate interval training to prepare for school races.

We typically start the children off with foundation level skills drills and enhance the level to intermediate and expert.
