PREVENTATIVE HEALTH AND SUPPLEMENTATION
We are living in a time where our food doesn’t contain the nutrients it used to. For example, broccoli uses to contain 83% of our daily calcium requirements and now only 3%. Oranges now have 13% of Vitamin C, compared to 87% in 1985. Fruit and vegetables are genetically manipulated so that we can find it all year round. Fresh foods are sprayed with pesticides and treated with chemicals to keep them free of bugs and fresher for longer.
We are finding more and more children suffering from diabetes, ADD, food intolerances and other kinds of diseases and people at a younger age suffer from heart attacks, prostate problems and illnesses because of stress and wrong diets. No matter what we say, we can’t get all our nutrients from our foods anymore and therefore have to take additional supplementation. This causes other problems, because there are literally 100’s of different products on the market and which are the correct ones to choose.
To explain a little about vitamins
One vitamin normally needs another specific one to be fully absorbed. Therefore, if your multivitamin is short of a few in the complete range, the bio availability decreases and your body will only be able to absorb some of it. Every time you open a bottle of pills, oxidization takes place and by the time you get to half the bottle, you are consuming a lot of “rust”! Make sure you buy a vitamin that is coated with an anti-oxidant or where the tablets are individually packed.
To buy the correct supplement, we need to make sure that it comes from a reputable company because it can contain undeclared substances or of a low class source. The hype words at the moment are Omega 3 and CoQ10, but if you don’t buy the right Omega, you might end up with a lot of Mercury in your body and if you don’t take the correct form of CoQ10, you may also be wasting your money and putting toxins in your body.
A multivitamin must have the whole spectrum of vitamins to make it bio-available (absorbed by the body) in and it has to be coated with an anti-oxidant or individually packed otherwise it oxidizes every time you open the container.
Omega 3 needs to have the correct balance of EPA and DHA and free of Mercury. We need a balance of 1:1 of Omega 3 and 6 in our bodies, but accordingly to our diets of getting so much Omega 6 and 9 through all our foods and very little Omega 3 (only in fatty fish eaten 3 x a week), the balance is 17:1. To explain why this is so dangerous, is that Omega 3 is the soft pliable part of our cells and Omega 6 the hard part, so our cells harden and that causes a lot of heart and other problems as well as ageing.
You have to take it in the Obequinol form and not the Obequinine form. CoQ10 plays an important role in all our energy processes and thus in the forming of ATP that is essential for life. As we get older, it gets broken down more and more and also gets destroyed by statin drugs.
Men should take extra Zinc in conjunction with the above, because it assists in prostate health and women should take extra calcium + Vit D3 for bone density.
